The distance from Ballantyne to downtown Charlotte is 17.2 miles north. 521 Johnston Rd is the road passing through Ballantyne that connects to I-485 Outer and Governor James G Martin Fwy. This provides quick and easy transportation to the rest of the city. Ballantyne is also just a 20-minute drive from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).

There are several areas throughout the neighborhood where walking or biking are the most convenient forms of transportation. Ballantyne History & Overview

The land encompassing Ballantyne was originally used as a large hunting tract which was owned by the Harris family– descendants of the former North Carolina Governor Cameron Morrison. Ballantyne was founded in 1992 and established in 1995. Thanks to John Harris and Smoky Bissell, Ballantyne became one of the first master-plan communities in Charlotte.

The neighborhood of Ballantyne has come a long way in development in the past two decades since its establishment– both residential and commercial.
